PINK MOTEL

The Pink Motel is a historic motel located in Sun Valley, California, about 15 miles north of downtown Los Angeles. The motel was built in 1946 and was originally known as the Kona Kai Motel. It was later renamed the Pink Motel due to its distinctive pink and white color scheme.

Over the years, the Pink Motel has become a popular filming location for movies, TV shows, music videos, and commercials. Some of the notable productions that have filmed there include:

  • The music video for Madonna's hit song "Material Girl"

  • The movie "Drive"

If you're planning to visit the Pink Motel, here are a few tips:

  1. Take a camera: The Pink Motel is a unique and photogenic location, so be sure to bring a camera to capture some shots.

  2. Respect the property: While the Pink Motel is a public location, it's also a functioning motel, so be sure to respect the privacy of any guests staying there. Don't enter any rooms or disturb any guests.

  3. Check the filming schedule: Since the Pink Motel is a popular filming location, it's possible that it could be closed off for a shoot on any given day. Check with the motel in advance to see if there are any filming schedules that may impact your visit.

  4. Enjoy the retro vibe: The Pink Motel is a true slice of mid-century Americana, so take some time to soak up the retro atmosphere and appreciate the vintage architecture and decor.

  5. Visit nearby attractions: Sun Valley is located near several other popular attractions in Los Angeles, including Universal Studios Hollywood and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Consider making a day trip out of your visit to the Pink Motel and exploring some of these other sights.
