BOB'S BIG BOY

Bob's Big Boy is a restaurant chain that started in Southern California in the 1940s. The original location, known as Bob's Pantry, was opened in Glendale, California in 1936 by Bob Wian. The restaurant became famous for its signature item, the Big Boy hamburger, which features two beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, and cheese on a sesame seed bun.

Today, there are several Bob's Big Boy locations throughout California, but the most iconic is the one in Burbank. This location, which opened in 1949, is known for its classic mid-century architecture, including its iconic neon sign and towering Big Boy statue out front.

If you're planning to visit Bob's Big Boy in Burbank or any other location in California, here are a few tips:

  1. Try the Big Boy: Of course, if you're visiting Bob's Big Boy, you have to try the signature dish! The Big Boy burger is a classic for a reason, and it's a must-try for any first-time visitor.

  2. Check out the memorabilia: Inside the Burbank location, you'll find a treasure trove of vintage memorabilia, including classic cars, antique radios, and old advertisements. Take some time to explore and soak up the retro atmosphere.

  3. Visit on a Friday night: If you're in the Burbank area on a Friday night, be sure to stop by for the Classic Car Show, which takes place in the parking lot. You'll see all kinds of classic cars, from hot rods to muscle cars, and it's a great way to experience some local flavor.

  4. Save room for dessert: Bob's Big Boy is known for its milkshakes and sundaes, so be sure to save room for a sweet treat. The Hot Fudge Sundae is a classic choice, or you can try something more unique, like the Banana Royal or the Pineapple Shake.

  5. Take a selfie with Big Boy: Finally, don't forget to snap a photo with the iconic Big Boy statue out front. It's a classic California photo op that you won't want to miss!
